FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We know there is a lot to take in during a difficult time.

Below are answers to some of the questions families most often ask us.

If you can't find what you're looking for, please call us directly, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • When you call, you will be answered by one of our experienced, caring and compassionate arrangers: Troy Upfield or Liddy Upfield.

We will first check if you need help right away, then take a few details about your loved one including their name, date of birth, date of passing, location and your relationship with them. From there we guide you through every next step at your pace.

  • Yes. Our Funeral Directors are available at any time of day or night. Whether your loved one has passed at 3pm or 3am, we are here to help immediately.

  • We offer traditional funerals, direct cremation, memorial services and specialist services for children and infants. There are no set packages, we create the service that is right for your family.

  • We can arrange for a service to be held in a church, chapel, function centre, private venue, family home, park, beach or any meaningful place of your choosing. A memorial service follows no rules, it can take place anywhere, at any time.

  • Direct cremation is a simple, dignified option where our Funeral Directors organise transport of your loved one to the crematorium with care and efficiency, without a formal service or attendance.

  • Yes. We guarantee that whoever answers your first call will be your arranger from that moment through to the end of the service, and beyond, for as long as you need.

  • Yes. We have 24/7 facilities and can bring your loved one into our care at any hour, whether they have passed at home, in a hospital or in a nursing home.

  • We will contact the coroner directly and arrange to transfer your loved one into our care. You do not need to manage this process yourself.

  • Memorialisation refers to meaningful and lasting tributes beyond a traditional burial or cremation. Chapter House is proudly affiliated with Wooling Hill Memorial Estate and Algordanza Memorial Diamonds, offering a range of enduring options for families who wish to honour their loved one in a personal and lasting way.

  • Yes. Chapter House offers pre-planning services for those who wish to make arrangements in advance. Please call us on 03 9855 0155 to discuss your options.

  • Yes. We offer a rare depth of experience in services for children and infants, and we believe in helping families set their own pace through this most tender of times. Our European infant hearse has been fully customised and is the first of its kind in Australia, offering a more fitting and dignified way to transport a young person. Whatever is needed, we are here to provide constant support.

  • We serve families across Greater Melbourne and the Macedon Ranges (and surrounds). Wherever you are, we are happy to meet you at home, in hospital, or at our Family Arrangement Rooms at Wooling Hill Memorial Estate.
