14 years ago, a delightfully charming Scotsman walked in to audition for a role in Heroes, my first official outing as a director. I knew instantly that I was going to cast him - and doing exactly that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

In hindsight, working with him on two shows at Torquay this year was a wonderful blessing. I loved being around his energy, and I am heartbroken I cannot attend today. My thoughts are with you, Callan and Alex.

He was a stellar human, an incredibly passionate creative, and such a dear dear friend; I will miss him deeply.

Sweet travels in the hereafter, Jocky. Love you mate x

Jock would give me a warm hug and smile whenever we met and would love to tell a story here and there. I had the pleasure of seeing his incredibly beautiful artwork, reading stories which were full of imagination, and listening to him on ‘Jock’s Celtic Calamity’ podcast. A very special man who will be missed.

Teresa.

Jock was a student in my writing class this year. He explored loss and hope and his role as a grandfather. His writing was evocative and powerful, and brought people to tears. His last piece, written in Bali days before his death, was a joyous and playful mystery. His work will be published in our anthology Under the Cobbin Sky launched October 21 at Cobbin Farm. I miss his cheeky wit and humour. Kind regards Luciano Bernes.
